About

Published by christahillstrom

Human Goods is intended to help people understand the truth behind the modern global slave trade. What is it? Where does it happen? Who does it hurt, and who does it serve? And what part do we all play in it?

Christa Hillstrom is a reporter for the Medill News Service at Northwestern University. She reports on issues of social justice.

Are there hands on things I can do to help?

Thanks Robin for your response. There are things that are pretty easy to do to contribute to raising awareness of issues surrounding modern-day slavery. Many NGO’s have ways to get involved listed on their websites. I’d recommend visiting some of the following links:

    Free the Slaves:

    International Justice Mission

    Polaris Project

    Not For Sale Campaign

I’d also recommend reading some of the blogs on Human Goods’ blogroll to learn more about the varied and nuanced ways slavery affects our world. Human Goods is also working on a new page that will recommend books and films on slavery, dehumanization, and the commodification of people. It should be up in December.

It’s wonderful that you want to take action, thank you.
