Slavery Defined
What is human trafficking? Is it really a modern-day form of slavery? How can it be that people today are really bought and sold into slavery?
In essence, slavery grows out of the commodification of people — whether its their labor or their bodies — and the reduction of everything it means to be human into a good for trade.
We live in an age that supposedly values human rights, but now more than ever the commodified value of the human body usurps the right to be human.
